Description of Collinsella avium sp. nov., a new member of the Collinsella genus isolated from the ceacum of feral chicken

Microflora in the gut are known for their ability to resist pathogens, immunity development and maintain homeostasis. Here we employed culturomics to isolate bacteria from the cecum of feral chickens. Based on bacterial isolation and identification, we identified a new species within the genus Collinsella and named Collinsella avium sp. nov. We will further characterize its probiotic potential against bacterial infection.
