The gut microbes are known for their ability to resist pathogens, immunity development and maintain homeostasis. Here we employed culturomics to isolate bacteria from the cecum of feral chickens. Based on bacterial isolation and identification, we identified a new species within the genus Mediterraneibacter in the family Lachnospiraceae and named Mediterraneibacter catenae SW178 sp. nov. We will further characterize its probiotic potential against bacterial infection.
