Taxono-genomics description of Olsenella lakotia SW165 T sp. nov., a new anaerobic bacterium isolated from cecum of feral chicken

The gut microbes are known for their ability to resist pathogens, immunity development and maintain homeostasis. Here we employed culturomics to isolate bacteria from the cecum of feral chickens. Based on bacterial isolation and identification, we identified a new species within the genus Olsenella and named O. lakotia sp. nov. (la.ko’tia N.L n. referring to native American tribe). We will further characterize its probiotic potential against bacterial infection.
